Google Business Profile suspended? Here is how to get it back

When your Google Business Profile is suspended, you disappear from the map results overnight, and the calls stop with it. We find out why your profile was suspended, fix what breaks Google's guidelines and help you prepare an appeal with the right evidence. We help businesses of every kind across the UK, from trades and home services to shops, clinics and offices.

Send us your business name and what Google's email or appeals tool says. We reply within 1 working day.

What does it mean when your Google Business Profile is suspended?

Google uses a few different terms, and they need different fixes. Knowing which one you have is the first step.

Suspended profile

What you see: your listing has gone from Google Search and Maps.

Google has decided the profile breaks its guidelines. The public cannot see it and you cannot manage it until an appeal is approved. Reviews and photos may not all come back.

Disabled profile

What you see: a notice in your dashboard and limited control over the profile.

Google often treats this much like a suspension, and the fix is the same: correct the problem, then appeal.

Restricted account

What you see: a warning on your Google Account and every profile it manages suspended.

The account restriction has to be appealed and lifted first, then the profile suspensions.

Unverified profile

What you see: a prompt to verify again, often by video.

This is not a suspension, but it can follow edits or a change of address. Re-verifying correctly usually solves it.

Why do Google Business Profiles get suspended?

Google does not always tell you the exact reason. In our experience with UK local businesses, these are the most common causes.

Address problems

Showing a virtual office, PO box or shared workspace as your business address, or showing a home address when you should be a service-area business. If customers do not visit you, as with most trades and mobile services, hide the address and list your service areas instead.

Suspended after changing address

Moving premises, or switching from a shop address to a home-based service area, can trigger a review. Large changes made in one go are the most likely to cause a suspension.

Suspended for suspicious activity

Lots of edits in a short time, new managers added, or logins from unusual locations can look like someone has hijacked the profile. Google suspends first and asks questions later.

Suspended for quality issues

Thin or inconsistent information: a business name, phone number or website that does not match what Google finds elsewhere, or a profile with little genuine activity.

Suspended for deceptive content

Keywords stuffed into the business name (for example "Smith Roofing – Best Roofer Manchester"), fake or incentivised reviews, or claims you cannot back up.

Duplicate or extra listings

More than one profile for the same business, or separate listings for every town you cover without a real staffed location in each.

What should you do when your Google Business Profile is suspended?

The first few days matter. Doing the wrong thing can make the suspension harder to reverse.

Do

Read the email from Google and check the appeals tool to see the decision and the policy it mentions

Write down every change made to the profile recently, and who made it

Check your business name, address, phone number and website match what is on your signage, invoices and Companies House record

Gather documents that prove your business is real: business registration, a utility bill, a business bank statement or insurance certificate in the business name

Fix anything that breaks Google's guidelines before you appeal

Don't

Create a new profile for the same business. Google's own guidance says not to, and it can make things worse

Submit a rushed appeal with no evidence. You can usually only appeal each decision once

Keep editing the profile while it is suspended

Pay anyone who promises a guaranteed reinstatement

How we help get suspended profiles reinstated

We handle the parts that most business owners find confusing, and we keep you informed at every step.

Find the real cause

We check your profile, its history, your website and your listings elsewhere to work out what most likely triggered the suspension.

Fix the profile

We correct the business name, address or service-area settings, categories and anything else that breaks Google's guidelines.

Prepare the evidence

We tell you exactly which documents to gather and check that the name and address on them match the profile.

Write and submit the appeal

A clear, factual appeal through Google's appeals tool, with the right evidence attached, submitted once and properly.

Handle account restrictions

If your Google Account is restricted, we help you appeal that first, so the profile appeal is not wasted.

Next steps if it is refused

If Google turns the appeal down, we look at what new evidence could support a further review, and give you an honest view of your chances.

How does the reinstatement process work?

01

Free check

Send us your business name and Google's message. We look at the profile and tell you what we think went wrong.

02

Fix and gather

We fix the profile and help you collect the documents Google is most likely to accept.

03

Appeal

We prepare the appeal with you and submit it through Google's appeals tool.

04

Recover

Once reinstated, we check your reviews, photos and rankings, and report any missing reviews to Google.

Can anyone guarantee a suspended profile will be reinstated?

No. Only Google can reinstate a profile, and some suspensions cannot be appealed. What we can do is make sure your profile follows the guidelines, your evidence is right and your appeal gives you the best possible chance. If we think your case is unlikely to succeed, we will tell you before you spend anything.

How do you stop your profile being suspended again?

Use your real trading name, with no extra keywords

Hide your address if customers do not visit you, and list your service areas instead

Keep your name, phone number and website the same everywhere online

Make changes gradually, not all at once

Keep owner and manager access to people you trust, and remove old users

Never buy, swap or incentivise reviews

Only create one profile per real business location

Google Business Profile suspension questions

How long does a Google Business Profile appeal take?

Google does not publish a fixed timeframe. Some appeals are answered within a few days; others take several weeks. Google emails you the decision, and you can check the status in the appeals tool.

Can I appeal more than once?

Google's appeals tool lets you appeal each decision once. If the appeal is refused, you may be able to ask for a further review with new evidence, so it is worth making the first appeal as strong as possible.

Should I just create a new Google Business Profile?

No. Google specifically advises against creating a new profile for the same business. It rarely solves the problem and can lead to further suspensions.

Will I get my reviews back?

Often, but not always. When a profile is reinstated, most reviews usually return. If some are missing, they can be reported to Google, and we help with that as part of the recovery step.

My profile was suspended after I changed my address. What now?

This is common. Google may want to confirm that the new address is real and that customers can visit it, or that you should be a service-area business with the address hidden. We check which applies, correct the settings and support the appeal or re-verification with documents for the new address.

Why was my profile suspended for suspicious activity?

Usually because of several changes in a short time, new users being added, or logins Google did not expect. We review the profile's history and access, remove anything that should not be there and explain the changes in the appeal.

How much does it cost?

The first check is free. If we can help, we give you a fixed price for fixing the profile and preparing the appeal before any work starts.
