LOCAL SEO FOR UK TRADES

Local SEO services that put your trade business on the map

When someone searches "roofer near me" or "electrician in [their town]", Google shows a map with three businesses before anything else. Those three get most of the calls. Our local SEO services help builders, roofers, plumbers and electricians earn those places, with a properly set-up Google Business Profile, consistent listings, genuine reviews and website pages for every town you cover.

We check where you appear in the map results for your main towns, what your competitors are doing and what is holding you back.

What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the work that helps a business appear in Google's map results and local search results when people nearby search for its services. For trades, that means showing up for searches like "boiler repair near me" or "builders in [your town]" in the areas you actually want to work.

It is different from general SEO because location matters as much as content. Google wants to show searchers businesses that are close, relevant and trusted, so local SEO focuses on your Google Business Profile, your listings across the web, your reviews and pages about the places you serve.

How does Google decide which local businesses to show?

Google says local results are based mainly on three things. Understanding them explains what local SEO can and cannot change.

1

Relevance

How well your business matches the search. Google looks at your categories, services, website content and reviews.

What we do: set the right categories and services, and build pages for every main job you do.

2

Distance

How far your business is from the person searching, or from the area they mention.

What we do: set up your service areas correctly and build genuine area pages, so you are relevant in the towns you cover, not just your home town.

3

Prominence

How well known and trusted your business is, online and off. Reviews, mentions on other websites and consistent listings all help.

What we do: grow genuine reviews, build accurate citations and earn mentions on local and trade websites.

What is included in our local SEO services?

Every plan is built around the towns you want to work in and the jobs you want more of. These are the parts we work on.

Local SEO audit

Where you appear in the map results for your main services and towns today, and why competitors rank above you.

Google Business Profile optimisation

The right categories, services, service areas, description, photos and posts, set up within Google's guidelines.

Citations and listings

Your business name, address or service area, phone number and website made accurate and consistent across UK directories.

Area pages

Genuine pages for the towns you cover, with local jobs, details and photos, so you can rank beyond your home town.

Service pages

A clear page for each main job, so Google understands exactly what you do.

Reviews

A simple process to ask happy customers for reviews, and help replying to them, including the negative ones.

Local links and mentions

Mentions on local news sites, community groups, suppliers and trade associations.

Local schema

Structured data on your website so search engines and AI tools read your business details correctly.

Monthly reporting

Map rankings across your towns, calls, direction requests and enquiries, in a plain-English report.

What are citations, and do they still matter?

A citation is any mention of your business name, address and phone number online, usually on directories such as Yell, Thomson Local, Checkatrade, TrustATrader, FreeIndex or Bark. They help Google confirm that your business is real and where it works.

They matter less than they used to on their own, but wrong or inconsistent details still cause problems: an old phone number, a previous address or a slightly different business name can confuse Google and customers. We find and fix those first, then add the listings that are worth having for your trade.

How do area pages help you rank in more towns?

If you only have a page about your home town, Google has little reason to show you elsewhere. Area pages fix that, but only if they are genuinely useful.

A good area page

Talks about real jobs you have done in that town, with photos

Mentions the local details that matter for your trade, such as common house types or conservation areas

Includes reviews from customers in that area

Explains how quickly you can get there and how to book

A page Google ignores

The same text as every other area page with only the town name changed

No photos, no local details, no reviews

Dozens of towns you rarely work in

Hidden from your menu and linked from nowhere

How long does local SEO take?

Month 1

Fix the basics

Audit, Google Business Profile clean-up, citation fixes and a plan for service and area pages.

Months 2–3

First movement

You start appearing more often in the map results close to your base and for less competitive searches.

Months 4–6 and beyond

Wider reach

As reviews, area pages and mentions build up, you start showing in more towns and for bigger searches.

How much do local SEO services cost?

It depends on how many towns and services you want to rank for, how competitive your trade is locally and the state of your Google Business Profile and website. A sole trader covering a few nearby towns needs far less than a firm covering several counties. After the free check, we give you a fixed monthly price with no minimum term.

Local SEO questions

Do I need a Google Business Profile for local SEO?

For most trades, yes. Your Google Business Profile is what appears in the map results, so it is the most important part of local SEO. If you work from home, you can hide your address and list the areas you cover instead.

Can I rank in towns where I don't have an office?

In the normal search results, yes, with genuine area pages and local relevance. In the map results it is harder, because distance from the searcher matters. We focus on the towns where you have the best chance and are honest about the rest.

Should I create a Google Business Profile for every town I cover?

No. Google only allows one profile per real business location. Fake locations or virtual offices often lead to suspension. Area pages on your website are the right way to target extra towns.

How important are reviews for local SEO?

Very. The number, quality and recency of your reviews affect both your rankings and whether people choose you. We help you set up a simple way to ask for reviews, but we never buy or fake them.

Is local SEO different from normal SEO?

It overlaps a lot. Local SEO focuses on location: your Google Business Profile, map rankings, citations and area pages. Most trades need both, which is why our SEO plans for roofers, builders, plumbers and electricians include local SEO as standard.

Do you lock clients into long contracts?

No. Our monthly local SEO has no minimum commitment. We would rather keep you because the calls are coming in.
